Uranus Stations Retrograde – Resistance is Futile – July 26th –December 25, 2015

Today one of the slow moving outer planets, Uranus, turns retrograde in the sign of Aries until December 25th, 2015.

Uranus is about freedom, independence, revolution, upheaval, individuality. Aries associations are leadership, pioneers, competition, impatience. This combination brings out a deep seated urge to “liberate” one’s self from someone or a circumstance, often in lightening-fast fashion.

When Uranus is retrograde, the “unexpected” factor linked to this planet is amplified; things suddenly “pop-up” out of nowhere at a rapid and yet unpredictable pace. Uranus, “The Great Liberator” disrupts the apple cart time and time again in order to break free of old, rigid structures in our lives, often imposed on us by Saturn. Sure, the change can be unsettling at times, because how readily do most people welcome change (especially when they have become comfortable with the same old, same old)? Change scares a lot of people, and this is why they continue to put into practice those out dated systems or methods, even though they are archaic and have lost their usefulness, or proficiency.

Best advice in this situation is to be more mutable; embrace the changes, try to go with the flow. If the Universe is actively working to change your life for the better, be glad.

Venus Stations Rx in Virgo July 25, 2015…Review, Reflect, Reclaim

Today Venus officially turns retrograde in the sign of Virgo. Venus now will stop moving forward, and start moving backward, back into the sign of Leo. Sound familiar? Venus left Leo only a week ago and was not operating at full capacity in Virgo, so it’s likely you may not have even noticed.

I have already written about Venus Rx in an earlier post, so you can go back and check that out here: http://www.12houses.com/astrology/?p=46

Again, Venus retrograde is a wonderful time for reflection on your own interpersonal relationships. Venus does rule money as well, so this can include reviewing financial plans or budgets. With Venus in Leo, the tendency toward luxury and overspending can be greater, while Venus in Virgo has a firmer grasp on the purse strings. Do you have an excess of items that you could get rid of and sell? Instead of spending a lot of money on new items, maybe you should consider finding the same thing secondhand. Visit a flea or antique market; you may be able to find a hidden gem. These types of activities can provide you with good opportunities, suitable for the Venus retrograde period. Reclaiming control over your finances and spending can be accomplished more easily now.

I have mentioned this before, but it bares repeating: don’t start a new relationship with Venus Rx; you may find later on that it is not at all ideal for you. Old romances may come back into the fray, and if you feel that the person and relationship is worth re-examining, they by all means see what happens. But don’t start a relationship when the planet that rules love is not working properly!

One of the best things about this particular Venus Rx, is that Venus will be moving back toward Jupiter, who is still in Leo (but not for long). Jupiter expands whatever it touches, and it will have this effect on Venus when she comes back around.

On August 6th, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter all conjunct, will square Saturn, however. The best way to describe this is that you may run into difficulties expressing/communicating/traveling (Mercury), giving or receiving love/money (Venus), as well as something or someone holding you back from growth/opportunity (Jupiter).

Venus will move direct on September 6th in Leo, and then October 8th, move into Virgo, but I will write more about these events later.

So remember, no big moves with love or money, try re-evaluating relationships and reclaiming your financial independence; consider alternate methods.

Say It Loud and Say It Proud: Mercury Enters the Sign of Leo July 23rd – August 7th, 2015

Mercury enters the sign of Leo on July 23rd, 2015. This bodes well for Leo natives, as your mental abilities and communication processes will be bolstered from having Mercury’s energy in your own sign. However, even if you do not have Mercury in Leo in your natal chart, you will still feel the Leonine influence in your Mercury ruled activities (communication, spoken and written words, short trips, neighborhoods, books, for example).

Mercury in Leo makes people speak, think, and communicate with Leonine qualities. This can make you more confident in what you say and how you say it; you may hear yourself being more direct and authoritative. Leadership goes hand in hand with Leo, and maybe you find yourself projecting and internally feeling more of those qualities. Or, you may be prone to be speaking with more warmth and dramatic emphasis. Just beware of power trips and suddenly massive egos; Leos are not known for their humility, and just because you think you are on top, remember this: there is always someone who is better than you.

Mercury in Leo isn’t just about what you say, it is also about what you think. Your thoughts could wander off on topics about romance, creative endeavors, activities with children, and simple good old fashioned fun. Mercury is also associated with siblings, so perhaps a short trip to accommodate any of the above may be in order with Mercury in Leo.

To give you a working example of Mercury In Leo, Barack Obama, J.K. Rowling, Ernest Hemingway, and Andy Warhol all have their Mercury in Leo. Think about how they speak, how they write, how they express themselves. This is Mercury in Leo in action.

Happy Birthday Leo! July 22 – August 22, 2015

Happy Birthday Leo! The Sun will finally make his way into your sign on July 22, and illuminate all aspects of your life until August 22. The more sensitive out there will see the focus shift from everything related to the sign of Cancer (home, family, real estate for example) to all things Leo: creativity, romance, fun and games, children, drama, ego. It should ‘feel’ considerably lighter, and more playful, but with a few twists and turns.

Those born under the sign of Leo possess a flair that is undeniable; they love an audience, especially one they can show off to. With the Sun’s spotlight on these natives, expect to see even more displays to garner your attention (and affection). You may yourself experience more of a proclivity for theatrical gestures, or a burning desire to unleash your creative side (remember, creativity comes in many forms and mediums, not limited to paint and canvas).

Mercury will quickly make his way into Leo on the 23rd. Venus has been traveling away from Leo into Virgo, but as part of her retrograde cycle, will return to Leo on July 25th and stay there all the way until October 8th. Even though Venus will be Rx, I still feel that many can benefit and do benefit from Venus in Leo. Mars will elbow his way into the party on August 8th, creating what is called a stellium in Leo. A stellium is a huge concentration of energy in one sign, created by multiple planets occupying it. Some may find the energy overwhelming, while others will find it empowering.

Mercury in Leo is bold and brash in his statements, speaking with authority, not always focused on the smaller details. Venus in Leo is all about wanting to be seen, with a flashy aesthetic, and Mars in Leo is about huge passion, and passions drive actions.

Even with Venus Retrograde (no, this does not mean your relationship is doomed), this is a very busy and exciting time. Leo is very fun sign, ruled by the Sun. Remember to look on at your chart and find the house cusp that Leo sits on; you will find a lot of emphasis on that area in your chart for the upcoming weeks. Also, pay attention to any planets that reside in that house because as each planet passes over it/them, it/they will be activated.

Try not to become too swept up with the actions of drama queens; don’t fight the lively, and at times, spirited energy that will be circulating. Don’t take yourself (or anyone else) too seriously. Try to make the best of it, enjoy it how you can. Let your inner child come out to play for a bit!

Venus Retrograde/Direct: The Summer of ’15…From Virgo to Leo and Back Again

This summer, Venus does what she does approximately every year and half; she goes Retrograde. You may be more familiar with Mercury Retrograde, but Venus Retrograde operates in the same fashion, with a shadow period (slowing down/ramping back up) and turning direct (operating at full capacity).

Technically speaking, we have been under the Venus shadow period since the end of June, when Venus was in Leo. Venus has still been moving toward Virgo, albeit slowly, and in fact enters Virgo on July 18th. However, shortly after this, Venus officially stations Retrograde in Virgo on July 25th. Venus will continue traveling backward, if you will, until she reaches all the way back in Leo on July 31st. Then, Venus will station direct in Leo on September 6, and continue picking up speed until she re-enters Virgo and leaves the shadow zone of the Retrograde on October 9th.

I know, I know; this is a lot to take in, going back and forth between signs!

These are the key points you need to remember though; Venus is the planet that rules aesthetics and beauty, money and finances, and what we find value in. With Venus being retrograde, matters tied into those topics can have setbacks, and you may find that reassessments of the above are needed. Avoid making major decisions in any of these areas, like brand new cosmetic treatments or new financial decisions until after Venus is operating at full speed in October. Also, it should be worth mentioning that past lovers may suddenly come back into your life during this time.

Of course, if you need to get a haircut, for example, just stick with your usual. If a pressing financial decision comes up, don’t ignore it, just stick with what you know or what you’ve typically decided on in the past. This is not the most auspicious time for dramatic or new endeavors in relation to your looks or your money, you know?

You also have to consider the Venus in Virgo element that plays into this. Venus in Leo loves attention, drama, and flash, while Venus in Virgo is much more modest and unassuming, and at times even critical. Venus being retrograde in both signs can quickly turn an attention seeking individual into an egotistical maniac (Venus in Leo), and the unpretentious person into a disparaging, bitter- old-school-marm type caricature (Venus in Virgo).

So the best solution is to work with the energy you have. Retrogrades are wonderful times to reexamine, so instead of trying to make a lot of new moves, go back and review what you’ve already done. There is always room for improvement.

Mercury Enters Cancer July 8 – July 23, 2015

Mercury will leave the sign of Gemini and enter Cancer on July 8, 2015.  Prepare for a definite shift in your mental processing, as your thoughts will swirl in eddies formed by the watery currents of your feelings. Mercury in Cancer is emotional and sentimental, and as such, your communication and general brainwork will take on the traits of Cancer.

This is generally a pleasing time, as you may lean towards thinking not just in a more temperamental fashion, but the topics of your reflections may be more home and family oriented. Perhaps even a touch more intuitive as well.

The Sun and Mars have already been treading water in the sign of Cancer, so Mercury coming along and joining the party can make things slippery at times.  Just watch for tendencies to speak without thoroughly thinking things through, first.

Mercury in Cancer…just feelin’ those thoughts…

Full Moon in Capricorn July 1, 2015

There will be a Full Moon in the sign of Capricorn on the evening of July 1, 2015. Capricorn Moons can be restrictive, calculative, practical, depressive.  A Full Moon is representative of a culmination or ending.

This Full Moon will be very close to Pluto, which is already transiting in Capricorn, and will oppose the Sun and Mars traveling currently in Cancer.  What this may indicate, especially with Pluto in Capricorn, is a promise of a deeply emotional and darkly depressing situation.  Moon-Pluto connections always signify depth of feeling, in Capricorn it may show us a sobering reality, or a deep crevice we weren’t aware existed. With the Sun and Mars opposing all of this in Cancer, this points to a tug-of-war between our practical, rational side (Capricorn) and our emotional side (Cancer). Think of the signs and the polarity; Cancer (home, mother, feeling) Capricorn (work, father, logic).

To see how this may specifically effect you, take a look at your chart and locate the houses where Cancer and Capricorn sit, respectively.

June 30, 2015 Jupiter in Leo Quincunx/Inconjunct Chiron in Pisces

On June 30, cosmic bodies Jupiter and Chiron will form a quincunx(inconjunct) aspect. What does this mean? The quincunx or inconjunct aspect shows us an area of difficulty in our lives, an area we need to adjust in some way, but are simply uncertain on how to do so.  This can be a tense aspect, as you can imagine; when the path in front of us appears ambiguous, it can make us feel all the more that the situation is precarious. It’s like debating with yourself back and forth, over and over again, just constantly second guessing yourself, wasting your time and energy on “what if’s” and “maybe’s”.  Very unhealthy behavior, right?

Let’s take a look at the players involved.  First, we have larger than life Jupiter, the planet of excess and maxed out gregariousness, in drama loving sign Leo.  Next is Chiron, the small planet/comet otherwise known as the Wounded Healer in Pisces, the sign affiliated with spirituality and healing.  Jupiter in Leo may make you overly confident in your remedy, and Chiron in Pisces may make you feel like you will never heal those wounds that reach all the way down to your soul.

So which is it? There is something that needs to be addressed either way, some sort of adaptation of your energy is needed in other to utilize the powerful healing abilities of Chiron. Maybe you need to learn to smile through the pain in order to facilitate healing; trust yourself, follow your truth. Jupiter will make sure this is a wide, wide wound, so be sure to find the right type of compress to stop the bleeding.

If you know your natal chart, look at which houses have Leo and Pisces on their house cusp to locate the source of this ‘wound’.

Mars Moves Into Cancer June 24 – August 8, 2015

Today Mars makes the transition from cerebral Gemini into touchy-feely Cancer.  Prepare for your motivation to be more feeling based, your actions possibly colored somewhere down the line from what you feel inside, instead of the cool headed rationality that we saw when Mars was recently touring Gemini. The caveat to this is to beware making decisions solely based off of your mood or feelings; you may regret what you decided when you are in a less emotional state.

The sign of Cancer deals with issues related with home, family, roots, traditions, nurturing love, mothers.  Mars is a fire planet and Cancer is a water sign so the two don’t always make the most comfortable of bed-fellows. Mars can uncomfortably stir up the private emotional side of Cancer into an intense frothy-feeling cocktail.  But still, in terms of needing that extra hand to propel home-related projects, for example, Mars comes in handy here and proves his usefulness. In fact, utilize this time with Mars in Cancer to work through any Cancer related issues that you have been putting off addressing; with Mars here, you are guaranteed to see some action.

Remember to look in your chart where Cancer is on the house cusp.  Take note if any planets are in that house, as there will be some sort of activation by Mars’ passage over them while that house.

Sun Moves Into Cancer June 21- July 22, 2015

Happy Birthday Cancer! The Sun moves out of Gemini and into your sign on June 21, staying there until July 22. The more highly attuned individuals out there will begin to feel all topics colored by the emotional Cancer influence, as a contrast to the highly cerebral nature of Gemini.

For any sign, whenever it is your birthday month, that time of year is extra special for you because this means that all of the Sun’s power and focus are directed solely at you.

Thus, all native Cancers benefit from this, and this of course means that all Cancer themes are highlighted; nurturing love, maternal love, intuition, the Moon, home and family, history, tradition, nostalgia, real estate, self protection, moodiness (and crabbiness!), just to name a few.

Native Cancers should also be feeling extra ‘oomph’ as Mars enters the sign of Cancer on June 24th. When both Mars and the Sun are in your sign, these two fiery bodies’ combination adds a lot of action and zing into the equation, perhaps accelerating it. For the rest of us, this just means that this added energy applies to the house where Cancer sits on the house cusp. Mercury will finally catch up to the party on July 8 when he also enters Cancer; this could be an excellent time to solidify any legalities involving real estate, as Mercury could represent the contracts and people, and Mars will promise the action.  If you are looking to start something afresh with your home or family, the New Moon on July 15 could be just the right time to do so.

Remember, look to your chart at the house where Cancer sits on the cusp to determine how these themes will tie into your life.
